When fall arrives, it’s time to give my beloved Sangria a rest. While I don’t think there’s ever a bad time for a good sangria, my taste buds yearn for something a little more substantial in the fall. Similar to Autumn food recipes, Autumn cocktails make me want to nest in my cozy house. I want something to sip, something that brings comfort, and something that warms the cockles of my heart. Teehee, I’ve been dying to use the word “cockles” in a post.
The Harvest Moon Cocktail hits all three of those requirements for me. Comprised of the trifecta of the best liqueurs ever—Kahlua, Frangelico, and Bailey’s—The Harvest Moon Cocktail is a seriously comforting sipping drink that warms you from you the top of your head to the tip of your toes.
If you’re like me, you tend to put on a little padding for the winter. After all, a Canadian winter is nothing to laugh at. We NEED a little pudge to survive the cold. Skinny people can’t even leave the house in January. People who like comfort food and drinks can. I have absolutely no scientific data to back up this claim but seriously who cares?! In Canada, you’re covered up with ten different layers anyway. No one can see if you’ve put on a little weight on under snow pants. Live it up my friend. LIVE. IT. UP.
If you really feel the need to lighten this drink up slightly, you can eliminate the cream altogether and just serve straight up over ice (lush) or you can swap out the cream for half and half or homo milk (that’s whole milk for my American readers). No matter how you enjoy the Harvest Moon Cocktail, make sure you serve it with friends. Cocktails are always better with your girlfriends.
