St. Patrick’s day is just around the corner and it’s all about the colour green! We’re all about getting in the spirit but unless you want to look like a leprechaun then you should probably avoid wearing green from head to toe (unless of course that’s the look you’re going for…then by all means…).
The key to incorporating green into your look is to do it with hits of colour. The best way to do that is to use beauty products and accessories. If you’re not really a green person pick one or two of these items; but even if you sport all of the items here at once you’ll be stylish and NOT looking like a walking green screen.

Scarves
Scarves make easy and practical accessories and let’s face it – no matter how much green beer you down it’ll still be cold out! Try a patterned scarf to break up the green a bit so you can wear it out other days in the year.
Try: Frayed Plaid Scarf from Forever 21
-
Purses
When going for a bright coloured purse opt for one in a classic style and shape. You can afford to go a little edgy in a neutral colour but pick something practical when going for colour so the purse isn’t wearing you!
Try: Faux-Leather Crossbody from Old Navy
-
Necklaces
Got a pretty green necklace sitting around that you never wear? Now’s the time to break it out! Neutrals like white, grey and black make the perfect backdrop for a stunning emerald colour necklace to take centre stage.
Try: Silver necklaces from Magnolia Silver
-
Paint those Nails
By far the easiest way to be on trend with a hit of colour is to change up your nail polish. If you’ve got pink undertones (light skinned gals that tend to get red in the sun) can get away with pastel greens and pretty much everyone can wear a gorgeous deep forest green on their tips.
Try: “Going Incognito” from Essie
-
Line your Eyes
If you’re not a stranger to makeup then play up those eyes and have a little fun with a green liner. The trick here is to make that green stand out by first lining the lashes with your regular liner (a black or a brown) then draw a thicker more obvious line above it in your favourite green hue.
Try: Metallic Eye Definer from The Body Shop
-
Rings
What a perfect occasion to break out an emerald cocktail ring! The bolder the better when it comes to bling like this. A bold ring is a sure fire way to make a statement while enjoying in the festivities.
Try: Vintage style emerald ring from People’s Jewellers
-
Shoes
Don’t forget your feet! Green shoes are the perfect way to make a statement and finding a bright coloured shoe in a classic shape (just like the purse trick) will ensure you’ll get plenty of wear out of them throughout the year.
Try: Martina pumps from Nine West
Pair all of these items with a great pair of jeans and a sweater, or t-shirt/blazer combo and you have the most stylish St. Paddy’s day yet!

You mean I don’t have to don giant dollar store glasses, bowties, and hats?
Oh thank goodness! Whew!
Now I have a plan to get festive and fashionable while I am making a certain “lucky” stew. 😉
Such wonderful ideas.
Elaine
Hahaha! Well you TOTALLY could do the dollar store stuff – I’m not going to judge you for that 😛
